Bon Appétit!

Okay, let's all admit it..

When we were young and innocent, we would stand beside our mother/father and peek at how they whip up that delicious meal for us within 10mins or so right?

And while they walk away from the stove to get additional ingredients from the fridge, i would grab the ladle at the fastest speed and pretend that i'm the one cooking it.

I know it sounds dumb lah, but at that time i think it was super cool lor!
Don't tell me you never did that!

Okay, so one day my mum was preparing 'egg bread'(direct translation from chinese, lol!), its like those kind of bread and you coat both sides of it with beaten egg yolk and pan fry it till the egg is cooked and the bread is crispy.

Its alright if you don't get what i mean, i think my angmoh is getting worse.
If you understand, then

1) You're awesome man! Hi-5! Your angmoh is as bad as mine.
or
2) You went to google the whole sentence and found a perfect explanation
In short, you play cheat!

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. Shit, why am i digressing?!

As i was saying, my mum was preparing the 'egg bread' and as usual, i was looking at her preparing.

Then she asked me to help her coat the breads with egg yolk. My, its was slimy and dirty but it was fun!
And it tasted like heaven!

So one fine day, i decided to give my family a surprise by making them breakfast.
Yeah, i did the 'egg bread', because 1) It was fun! 2) It was the only dish i knew how to do.
Stop laughing.

It was so coincidentally that my dad bought a whole new loaf of bread and i decided to use them all.
It was approx. 15pcs in total? And i cut them into triangular shape so it was 30pcs in total.

Happily enjoyed the coat-bread-with-egg-yolk process so much that i forgot to heat the pan with butter in advance.

It was only after i finished coating ALL the bread then i realized it. At that moment my mind was #^)&$^#^()_+)^$#!!!!
Should i

1) Throw away the breads and heat the pan while i run down to get new loaf of bread?
or
2) Just heat that bloody pan and leave the bread to become soggy.

I ended up choosing option 2 because i figured out that my family will be up by the time i come back and would be starving if i repeat the whole process.

So it smelt nice when i was pan frying it and my mum and bro was already up and waiting for their breakfast.
Oh, that time Shiqi dropped by and waited for my fab cooking to be served.

Finally it was done; you should've seen how tall the bread was when i stacked them up.

My mum hungrily took one and bite it down, i looked at her, waiting for a compliment, but instead she told me; I'll have one only, its enough for me.

Liar lor! She eats alot and she’s telling me half a slice of bread is enough for her?!

Shiqi took one bite and almost immediately, she spit it out.
Wahlau! Really that awful meh? I remembered it smelt nice when i was pan frying it.
Must be because i forgot to heat the pan in advance lah!

I took one bite myself and it tasted alright what(not really alright lah, but need to support myself mah..)so i prompted my bro to try it and do some justice for me. But he decided to return back to his room than to eat my 'egg bread'!

And because i thought it tasted 'alright', i was responsible for eating it all up.
Yes, i really ate them all up.

Later on, my mum asked how i prepared them. I told her about how i forgot to heat the pan in advance and how i salvage the situation and maybe it was what cause the outcome to be disastrous.

It turned out that it doesn't really matter if you heat the pan or not. The thing that mattered was..i forgot to heat the pan with butter. THAT DAMN BLOODY BUTTER!

I panicked too much about not heating up the pan in advance and forgot all about the butter!
And mind you, the amount of butter needed is like one teaspoon!

See how such small details in cooking can cause a big difference?

Similarly in life, small details can also cause big differences in our lives, and we have to discover the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter to make everything possible!
